Security Pledge Enforced
BERLIN – Through a service called CDARS (pronounced “cedars”), Taylor Bank can offer you up to 500 times the standard $100,000 level of coverage found at most banks.
“There is nothing safer than FDIC insurance,” said Raymond M. Thompson, President and CEO of Taylor Bank. “Why? Since the FDIC was created in 1933, no one has lost a single penny in an FDIC-insured account. Because of FDIC insurance, four generations of Americans have been able to sleep soundly at night knowing that their money is fully protected. … Now with CDARS, we can protect depositors for up to $50 million, and that means that you can sleep soundly without worrying about your money, too.”
CDARS is a deposit placement service. Deposits placed through CDARS meet the pass-through insurance coverage guidelines established by the FDIC.
To offer CDARS, a bank must belong to a special network called the Promontory Network. When a customer places a large deposit with a network member, the bank arranges for the placement of funds into CDs issued by other network banks – in increments of less than $100,000 to ensure that both principal and interest are eligible for full FDIC protection.
From the customers’ point of view, CDARS is one-stop shopping. Regardless of the number of CDs they receive, CDARS customers work with only one bank, sign only one agreement, and receive one account statement.
If you have ever heard the saying ‘As safe as money in the bank,’ you know how valuable FDIC insurance coverage is. At Taylor Bank, we’re delighted we can offer you many times the coverage that most other banks,” Thompson said.
Call Stacy Schaffer at 410-641-1700 or email her at [email protected] for more information on the CDARS program at Taylor Bank.
Website Being Revamped
OCEAN PINES – The Ocean Pines Board of Directors included $30,000 in the current fiscal year budget to redo the Ocean Pines website- www.oceanpines.org. Subsequent to that action, the board received an offer from association member Joe Reynolds and OceanPinesForum.com to code the new site at no cost to OPA. On May 21, the OPA Board of Directors voted to accept Mr. Reynolds’ generous offer.
All association members and staff are invited to provide input and suggestions as the shell of the site develops to completion over the next 12 weeks. The goal is to provide OPA with a new, attractive website using the latest technology and providing easy navigation to all the various items of information and resources association members expect to find.
To facilitate as much association member input as possible, there is a new message section on the message board at the OceanPinesForum.com website. The message section is named “OPA Web Site” and will be limited to suggestions and other discussion about the new OPA web site. Everyone is encouraged to offer input and suggestions.
The site will be developed initially at www.OceanPines.tv where there is currently the beginning of a site shell. Once complete and accepted by staff, the new site will be moved to the existing OPA domain name and opened for use.
Suggestions and input may be emailed to [email protected] or posted to the message board on www.oceanpinesforum.com in the “OPA Web Site” message section.
