OCEAN CITY – The OC Air Show, set for the beach June 10-11, will feature military aircraft demonstrations, low-altitude flyovers and civilian aerobatic performances from noon to 3 p.m. both days.
The performer line up for the show includes USAF F-16 Viper Demo Team, USAF F-15 Eagle Demo Team, Heritage Flight Program (F-15, F-16 and P-51 Mustang), U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, US Jet Aerobatic Team, USAF Reserve Bi-plane, Embry Riddle Mono-plane, GEICO Skytypers, The Yak Attack, C-17/C-5 Flyover and NASA P-3 Flyover.
“Ocean City is an ideal place to stage a waterfront air show,” said Bryan Lilley, president of the OC Air Show. “We’re within a few hours’ drive of 14 million people in Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia – and less than 100 miles from five major military bases, the pentagon and the nation’s capital.”
The performances will be visible along the majority of the famed three-mile Boardwalk. Interactive displays and exhibits will be open to the public on the streets surrounding Show Center, located at 16th Street on the Boardwalk.
“We are pleased to have such a significant military presence in our first year,” Lilley said. “We are still in discussion with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland Air National Guard about supporting the event so the lineup may expand even further.”
Free public viewing is available between 14th and 16th streets on the boardwalk. Premium viewing opportunities and hospitality chalets will also be available to businesses and public attendees. Tickets for premium seating can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com.
The Ocean City Municipal Airport will host an open house Monday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., adding a unique element to the waterfront event. The public is invited to attend the open house and meet many of the pilots participating in the O.C. Air Show.
The open house will enable the public to see the aircraft up close. During the afternoon, between 1 and 3 p.m., aircraft will be rehearsing and will be arriving and departing from the airport in great numbers.
Parking at the airport is restricted. The public must park at the West Ocean City Park and Ride and take a shuttle to the airport. Parking is free and the shuttle costs $1, good for the whole day and also entitles riders to take shuttle to the Boardwalk and downtown areas of Ocean City later in the day. Airport shuttle service will operate from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
