New Red Cross Director
SALISBURY – The Lower Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross has announce the hiring of John Culp as new Chapter Director.
After the recent retirement of 14-year Director Alan Lee, the application process began, leading to interviews and finally narrowing the field down to a few candidates.
"We were especially pleased with the fact that John was not only local, with knowledge of our area and it’s resources, but someone who has outstanding qualifications and a wonderful energy," Board of Directors President Eric Booth said.
Foundation Organized
BERLIN – Two new members were elected to the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore at the organization’s December board meeting.
Brian D. Shockley, an attorney in Ocean City, and Donald K. Taylor, an executive with Perdue Farms, Inc., of Salisbury, were elected to three-year terms on the Foundation Board.
Shockley is a partner with the Law Firm of Williams, Moore, Shockley and Harrison in Ocean City.
Taylor is currently Chief Technology Officer for Perdue Farms and has worked for the firm for 24 years in various technology positions.
Foundation officers elected for 2008 were Arthur M. Cooley, Chair; Louis H. Taylor, Vice-Chair; Melody S. Nelson, Secretary; and Joseph R. Ollinger, Treasurer. Retiring from the board of directors were Gregory L. Stein, who also served as chairman for two years during his tenure on the board, and Thomas E. Mahn.
Company Leads Campaign
OCEAN CITY – Prudential Carruthers Realtors is currently collecting used and unwanted cell phones to raise money that will benefit Sunshine Kids.
The local offices are asking the public to help by donating their unneeded cell phones at any of the following Prudential Carruthers offices: West Ocean City, 12308 Ocean Gateway, Suite 1; Ocean City, 75th Street, 7501 Coastal Highway; Ocean Pines: 11001 Manklin Meadows Lane; and Salisbury, 2618 N. Salisbury Blvd, Suite 120.
Prudential Carruthers will be collecting cell phones from now until Feb. 15.
The donated cell phones are sent to Pace Butler Corporation of Edmond, Okla., a leader in the cell phone recycling industry. Pace Butler pays for each shipment of cell phones they receive, while ensuring that each phone is recycled in a responsible manner and that no phone ever ends up in a landfill. The money raised benefits a worthy cause while the environment is spared of cell phones’ harmful toxins.

OCEAN CITY – Ed Wehnert, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s 52nd Street office, has announced that for December Peck Miller was the top individual listing associate and Rick Meehan and Katy Durham were the top listing sales team.
Jeri Justis was the top individual sales associate and Jenny Cropper Rines and JoAnn Cropper were the top selling sales team. P
Miller was the top individual settlement associate and Meehan and Durham were the top settlement team. Miller and Meehan and Durham did over $1 million in sales and listing production for the month.

BERLIN – ResortQuest Real Estate recently announced that, for December, Sales Associate Despina Kaneles recorded the company’s highest listing volume and Associate Broker Bill Hand posted the company’s highest sales volume.
In November, Hand posted the company’s highest sales volume and Kaneles recorded the company’s highest listing volume.

BERLIN – At a recent sales meeting, Cindy Dorcak was named top listing agent for December 2007 by Debbie Hileman, Broker of Hileman Real Estate.
Dorcak has been in real estate sales for over 20 years, the last 10 years with Hileman Real Estate. During that time, she has been a multi-million dollar producer.
OP Office Top Producers
BERLIN – Peter Copenhaver, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Ocean Pines office, has announced the top producers for December.
Jules Gaal was the top listing agent, and Bert Roseberry was both the top sales agent and top agent for the month.
Dev. Center Receives Grant
SNOW HILL – The Worcester County Developmental Center, Inc. (WCDC) received a Technical Mini grant for $956.46 from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Inc. (CFES). This funding was awarded through the CFES Community Needs Fund.
Funding was requested to support the costs associated with the necessary additive license, computer virus software and memory upgrade to the agency’s small business server. This support allows WCDC staff to be fully integrated into the organization’s network and provides a backup solution to protect against data loss. In addition, a hardware component was purchased to enhance the organization’s ability to market community highlights, fundraisers and special events.
