Walter Craig

BERLIN – On Oct. 30, 2007, Walter Craig passed away.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Ellen Craig (nee Bramble); devoted father of Barbie Craig and her companion Rick Pierpont, Dottie Craig-Potts and her husband Nick, Walter Craig and his wife Jamie; devoted father-in-law of Dana Gress; dear grandfather of Collin Gress, Alena, Morgan and Craig Potts and Taylor, Tori and Nathan Craig; brother of Carroll Craig, Ginger Whitmer, Tray Sanchez, Christy Ondeck, Mary Ann Sura and the late Helen McGeeney; and brother in law of Barb Boyle and her companion Joe Brockmeyer.

Services were held at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A.

Vincent A. Liberatore

BERLIN – Vincent A. Liberatore, 74, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Adeline DiNardo. He is survived by an aunt, Nacy Giardina, and four cousins, Jo Fava, Chip Giardinia, Marian Patti and Nancy Owings.

Liberatore had worked as a Program Systems Analyst for the Social Security Administration.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Frances Hayes Beard

BERLIN – Frances Hayes Beard, age 77, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at her home in Berlin.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James Bryant Hayes and Rebecca Lindsey Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Washington Beard, Sr. In 2003. She is survived by her children, Gail Beard Mansell of Lansdowne, Pa. and James W. Beard, Jr and his wife Vancine of Berlin. There are six grandchildren, Claire M. Jackson and her husband Alvin, Michael Mansell and his wife Helen, Apree Bears, Dana Beard, Michelle Anderson Rogers and her husband Jerome and Blair Hall. There are two grandchildren, Lindsay Jackson and Dominic Jackson. Also surviving is her sister, Eleanor Rodriguez of Philadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beard had been a caregiver for many years working for numerous families on the shore.

A memorial service was held at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Pastor Bill Cropper officiated. Interment was in St. Paul’s United Methodist Cemetery in Berlin.

David E. Mumford

BERLIN – David Eldred Mumford, age 49, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007.

Born in Berlin, he was the son of the late Eldred Mumford and Viola Florence Green Mumford. He is survived by his wife, Constance Ann Phippin Mumford, and three sons, David Mumford and his wife Veronica of Millsboro, Matthew Mumford of Berlin and Christopher Mumford of Milton. There are six grandchildren, Austin, Trenton, Marshall, William, Michael and Merric Mumford. Also surviving are three sisters, Melody Stevens and her husband Joseph of Havre de Grace, Nancy Dellinger of Kingsville and Ruth Sharon Mumford of Cambridge and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mumford had worked for many years at Animal Services Lab and for the Harrison Group in their maintenance division. He had also volunteered at local soup kitchens.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment will be in Bowen Cemetery in Newark. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Constance Mumford, c/o Calvin B. Taylor Bank, PO Box 5, Berlin, Md. 21811.

LeRoy E. Johnson

BERLIN – LeRoy E. Johnson, 57, passed away Oct. 20, 2007 after a short illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Pamela Johnson, and his sons, Eric Wyatt and Tony Johnson.

Johnson was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was employed by the Town of Ocean City for nearly 27 years.
