Named Among Best

OCEAN CITY – Joy Snyder of Re/Max Premier Properties in Ocean City was recently named one of “The 2007 Best In The Business” by “The Real Estate Professional,” which annually names real estate professionals with an average of 30-plus annual transactions that are independently validated with records of perfect service and customer satisfaction.

New CAR Leaders

BERLIN – Cassie Mead, a Realtor in Prudential Carruthers’ Ocean Pines office, was installed as 2007-2008 president of the Coastal Association of Realtors (CAR) last week.

This year, CAR was honored to have Maryland Association of Realtors President Carole Maclure as its guest. Maclure installed Mead and other officers and directors at an annual meeting held at Fager’s Island in Ocean City.

Mead has been licensed in Maryland for more than five years. She is a Maryland native and retired from First National Bank after 15 years of service. She is a 2007 graduate of the Maryland Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. She has served on the Board of Directors for several years, was chair of the association’s Government Affairs Committee for three years, and was recently named as Realtor of the Year by the Women’s Council of Realtors Delmarva Chapter.

Top Office Producers

BERLIN – The Moran team leads the way in the West Ocean City office of Long and Foster once again for having been named team top producer for the month of September.

Linda Moran and her team were named team top producer in both volume and units. Carole Mendham was the top individual producer in volume and units. The top listers for the month were the Moran Team and Judy Froman.

Bank Dividend Announced

BERLIN – Calvin B. Taylor Bankshares, Inc. (TYCB) announced that its Board of Directors has declared an annual cash dividend of 80-cents per share.  This dividend is payable on Dec. 31, 2007 to shareholders of record as of the close of business Nov. 14, 2007.

Calvin B. Taylor Bankshares, Inc. is the holding company for Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company, a community banking organization that focuses lending and other services on businesses and consumers in its local market area.

Erdie Top Producer

OCEAN PINES – Peter Copenhaver, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Ocean Pines office, has announced that Greg Erdie was named the top producer for the month of September.

New Secretary

BERLIN – Julie Sadler of Shamrock Realty Group was recently installed a one-year term as the 2008 Secretary of the Coastal Delmarva Chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors in a ceremony held at the Marlin Moon Grille last week.

The Coastal Delmarva Chapter is a 145-member professional real estate group affiliated with the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), a national professional development organization with 19,000 members.

Grand Opening Announced

WEST OCEAN CITY – Cat & Canine Comforts welcomes all friends, including the furry ones, to its Grand Opening on Thursday, Oct. 25. The daylong event will feature refreshments and giveaways for pets and pet owners and will conclude with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce.

Cat & Canine Comforts is a boutique pet store without the boutique prices and is proudly owned and operated by local husband-and-wife team Steve and Nancy Schwendeman. Customers can find a full selection of cat and dog supply needs including high quality dog and cat foods and treats, toys, beds, collars, leashes, apparel, grooming products and more. Cat & Canine Comforts also features Ocean City’s only do-it-yourself dog wash.

“We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends at our grand opening,” said Nancy Schwendeman. “We have an inventory of products from the expected to the unique for pets and pet lovers as well as a friendly store where the whole family can have fun.”

The grand opening will take place from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. with the ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. The store is located on Route 611, just south of the intersection of Rt. 611 and Rt. 707 in the Decatur Business Center.

Doctor Earns Recertification

BERLIN — Edwin Castaneda, M.D., F.A.C.P., a Berlin internist and Chief of Medical Staff at Atlantic General Hospital, recently achieved his internal medicine recertification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

As a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician completes recertification through the Board’s Maintenance of Certification program every 10 years to ensure life-long learning and to provide his or her patients with the best quality care. The process is rigorous and can take several years to complete. Castaneda first received his diplomate status in 1997. 

Castaneda is currently the medical director of the Diabetes Outpatient Education Program at Atlantic General Hospital and has served as the chairman of the Credentials and Medical Staff Quality Committees.

Town Earns Award

OCEAN CITY – The National Recreation and Park Association has presented the Town of Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department with the prestigious Dorothy Mullen National Arts and Humanities Award for the annual Art’s Alive. The award was given at the 2007 NRPA Congress & Exposition held recently in Indianapolis.

Named after recreation and parks pioneer Dorothy Mullen, the award honors the most innovative and effective arts and humanities programs across the U.S. and to also inspire others who may consider developing similar events in their own areas. From its inception in 2001, Art’s Alive has returned annually to Northside Park during Father’s Day weekend in June.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Town at the NRPA event were Tom Shuster, Director of the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department, and Susan Petito, Assistant Director.

"This is an honor that we proudly accept," said Shuster. "Our staff works diligently to put this event together and the support of the community, both from our residents and visitors, has been phenomenal."

BERLIN – ResortQuest Real Estate recently announced that for September Sales Associate Nicole Peterdozzi posted the company’s highest sales volume and the team of Sales Associate Anna Meiklejohn and Associate Broker Tammy Hadder recorded the company’s highest listing volume.

In August, Peterdozzi posted the company’s highest sales volume and Associate Broker Bill Hand recorded the company’s highest listing volume.
