OCEAN CITY- The Greene Turtle captured the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s adult summer soccer league title earlier this month, routing regular season champion Rommel’s Ace Hardware in the championship game.
The Turtle, which finished the regular season in second place with a 7-2-2 record, took care of business in the title game against Rommel’s, scoring two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. In the second half, the Turtle poured it on with six more goals to cruise to the 8-0 championship win.
Josh Elliott led all scorers with a hat-trick, while Jonathan Forte and Justin Brooks-Ward scored two goals each in the win. Sam Svenson also scored for the Turtle in the championship game. The Turtle, with a 7-2-2 regular season record, was the league’s second seed.
