Sheila Croker
BERLIN – Sheila Croker, age 49, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at her home in Ocean Pines.
Born in Dorchester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John McHugh. She is survived by her mother, Mary Sweeney McHugh of Berlin; her husband, Ron Croker; a daughter, Melissa Mc Manus and her husband Ryan; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Kayla McManus all of Berlin.
She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Michael Croker in 2000.
Also surviving is a brother, Kevin McHugh and his wife Robin of Annapolis and their children, Shannon and Sean; three sisters, Kathleen Conahan and her husband Dan and their children Sheila, Sean and Justin, Maureen Sheetz and her husband Walter and their children Karen, Terri, Kelly, Ed and Mary, and Karen Bayne and her husband Doug and their children Jennifer and Kevin. A nephew, Scott, preceded her in death.
Croker was the president of Odyssea Water Sports in Ocean City and had formerly worked at North Arundel Hospital. She was most proud of being a Nana to her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Healing Hearts, 19627 SE 284th St., Kent, Wash. 98042.
Kathryn A. Broseker
BERLIN – It is with great sadness that the family of Kathryn A. Broseker announces her passing after a long illness on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at the age of 88.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Roland Broseker Jr. of Ocean City and Gary Broseker Sr. and wife Karen of Baltimore; her five grandchildren, Janet Broseker Ventola, Gary Broseker Jr., Rhonda Broseker Frick, Bradford Broseker and Bruce Broseker; as well as her five great-grandchildren, Bethany Frick, Alexandra and Hunter Broseker and Samantha and Matthew Ventola, all of Maryland.
She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Roland Horace Broseker Sr.; her father, William Alexander Scheckels; her mother and stepfather, Gladys and Harry Stoltenberg; and her brother, Harry Stoltenberg Jr.
Kathryn and Horace owned and operated American Hardware Store in Brooklyn Park. After the death of her husband, Kathryn moved to Ocean City, where she worked full time in customer service from 1982-1990 at the family business, Horace Hardware, Inc. She will be forever remembered by all that knew her, as a very sweet lady with a big heart, a ready smile and a contagious laugh.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Ocean City.

Lacy "Steve" Whitley Stevens
BERLIN – Lacy "Steve" Whitley Stevens, age 86, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. Born in Goldsboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Luby and Lettie Blackman Stevens.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis; a son, Bruce E. Stevens; a daughter Peggy D’Ascoli; four grandsons; two sisters, Marjorie Tart and Marceline Tucker of Goldsboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Walter and Foster Stevens of Goldsboro, and another brother who died in infancy.
Stevens was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a WWII veteran, a member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Co. for 27 years, Snow Hill American Legion Worcester Post #67 for 60 years, Sinepuxent Masonic Lodge #193 Snow Hill, Ruritan Club, and honored by the Boy Scouts Association. He retired from NASA in Wallops Island and was owner/operator of the Stevens Sheet Metal Shop in Stockton, MD for over 50 years.
A graveside service will be held this Sunday at 1 p.m. at Greenbackville Cemetery in Greenbackville, Va. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stockton Fire Company, c/o George Ward, 6125 George Island Landing Rd., Stockton, Md. 21864 or Wesley United Methodist Church, c/o David Hancock, 5431 Rabbit Gnaw Rd., Stockton, Md. 21864.
