OCEAN CITY – Two local men were arrested this week in connection with the burglary and theft that occurred at Buck’s Store in Berlin on Tuesday.
Jeffrey Thomas Petronek of West Ocean City and Norman Kirk Scott of Berlin were charged with second-degree burglary, theft over $500, theft under $500 and conspiracy to commit theft for allegedly breaking into Buck’s Store and taking lottery tickets along with beer and cigarettes.
On Tuesday, Maryland State Police responded to Buck’s Store for a reported burglary and theft. At the scene, State Troopers discovered that a substantial amount of lottery tickets as well as beer and cigarettes had been taken. The case was turned over to the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation after a preliminary investigation. The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation was able to develop several suspects in the case.
On Wednesday, an employee at “Your Store” in Berlin contacted the Worcester County Sheriff’s department after two men attempted to cash several of the stolen lottery tickets. Deputies arrived on the scene and took Petronek and Scott into custody. They were then turned over to the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation.
