BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity soccer team edged visiting Pocomoke, 2-1, on Monday to improve to 6-2-1 on the season.

The Seahawks scored two early goals and pressured the Warriors’ net throughout much of the first half, but could not build on the lead and went into halftime leading 2-0. Pocomoke scored in the second half to pull closer at 2-1, but the Seahawks held on the rest of the way for the win.

With the win over Pocomoke on Monday, the Seahawks erased the sting of last week’s 3-1 loss to Kent Island on the road. Before that game, Decatur’s only other loss on the season was way back in the opener on the road at Easton on September 5.

Decatur’s record stands at 6-2-1. The Seahawks play Queen Anne’s at home next Monday, followed by a showdown with Bennett on the road in the regular season finale on October 23 in what could be the Bayside South championship.
