Decatur Alums To Compete In Thanksgiving Tourney

BERLIN- Six decades of Stephen Decatur High School basketball will be on display next fall with an alumni tournament featuring some of the school’s top players from 1954 to the present.

The Ultimate Stephen Decatur Basketball Tournament is set for Saturday, November 28 in the middle of Thanksgiving Weekend. The tournament will feature 10 varsity teams competing in a single elimination tournament with bragging rights on the line. The oldest team will feature players from 1954 to 1987 while the other teams will be spread over two- to three-year periods up until 2014.

Every team will feature both male and female players who played at Decatur in the assigned years. Every team will also feature at least two female players from the assigned years. The goal is to raise over $6,800 needed to purchase a Shoot-A-Way machine for the Stephen Decatur Basketball Program. The entry fee is $100 per team and there will be a $5 admission fee for spectators with all proceeds going toward the purchase of the Shoot-A-Way machine.
