BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team picked up two wins this week, beating Washington last Friday and Snow Hill on Tuesday to extend its winning streak to 10 games.
The Seahawks beat Washington, 84-57, last Friday. Decatur led by six points at the half, then went on a 9-2 run to start the third quarter to open up what had been a tight game. Decatur led 54-45 going into the fourth quarter and the outcome was still in question, but the Seahawks scored an impressive 30 points in the final period to cruise to the 84-57 win over the Jags. Tyler Hunter and Torrey Brittingham each scored 20 points to lead Decatur, while Keyon Ely added 14.
Back in action on Tuesday, the Seahawks routed county rival Snow Hill, 68-32, to extend the current win streak to 10 games. The Seahawks last lost back on December 20 to Pocomoke. Against Snow Hill on Tuesday, Hunter and Colen Gaynor each scored 15 points, while Randy DuPont and Ely each scored 10.
