In the spirit of the holiday giving season, first grade students at Ocean City Elementary School collected 123 brand new hats, scarves and pairs of mittens and gloves to be donated to the Ocean City Cold Weather Shelter. The second graders at Ocean City Elementary have once again dressed up brand new bears from the Salvation Army to be given to children in the Berlin, Ocean City and Salisbury area. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City annually rings the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive at Christmas time. The past several years the club-sponsored Key Club at Stephen Decatur High School has also participated. Juniors Mackenzi Wagner and Caroline Kurtz are shown working a shift this month.
The scientists in Abby Harrison’s third grade class at Ocean City Elementary conducted an experiment to determine which type of container will keep their apples from browning. They learned oxygen is the culprit and keeping them in an airtight container will do the trick.
