Amanda Pellerin, a visual clay artist with Young Audiences, is the latest “artist in residence” at Berlin Intermediate School. Students at BIS are creating handmade mugs that integrate math lessons with their personal drawings. During Fire Safety Week, Ocean City Elementary School was visited by firefighters from the Ocean City Fire Department. Students discussed how to prevent fires from happening at home as well as what they should do if there is a fire at their home. Worcester Preparatory School Headmaster Dr. Barry Tull ha announced that Aelya Ehtashamhas been named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Stephen Decatur High School junior Zainab Mirza is presented the Worcester County Teen Volunteer of the Year Award by Kelly Brinkley from Worcester County Volunteer Services. Mirza was also issued an honorary citation by Gov. Martin O’Malley.
