Anonymous Tip Results In Drug Bust

BERLIN — Acting on an anonymous tip, Maryland State Police (MSP) troopers arrested a Princess Anne man on cocaine distribution charges at the Ocean Downs Casino.

Around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday, MSP troopers received an anonymous alert to be on the lookout for a vehicle containing drugs to distribute heading to the casino.

MSP troopers from the Berlin barrack, working in coordination with Ocean Downs Casino security, were able to locate the vehicle on the casino grounds and identify the suspects. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Robert Lee Elmore, 45, of Princess Anne. The investigation revealed Elmore was wanted on a Worcester County grand jury indictment for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

During the investigation, MSP troopers were assisted by the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) K-9 unit, which resulted in a positive alert on the suspects’ vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 15 individually-wrapped bags of cocaine, approximately nine grams of marijuana and two baggies of crack cocaine weighing roughly three grams each.

Elmore was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. He was held on a $5,000 bond for the fresh charges from Sunday and was held without bond pending a hearing in Worcester County Circuit Court for the grand jury indictment.
