The breeze and clouds moved in this afternoon, and we even had a sprinkle here and there as a front pushes closer to the area ready to shut things down for tomorrow. The good news is that the epic flounder fishing that we saw from yesterday continued again this morning for a lot of us.
Kristen and I had a chance to head outside the jetty to try for some of the flounder that have been caught there in the past few days and things did not disappoint. We got there at about 9 AM, Kristen caught our first keeper at about 9:10 and then we had our limit and were headed out by about 11:30. We had another 25 or so throwbacks for some crazy good flounder fishing. All of our fish were caught on Deadly Tackle Deadly Doubles with salmon red (orange) Gulp.
Donnie Post showed up while Kristen and I were out there and I got a report from him this afternoon that he and his fishing partner also caught a limit of nice fish. Donny also caught his fish in Deadly Doubles with Gulp.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing was on the river last night showing the catfish, snakehead and gar who’s boss, and then he was on the ocean this morning catching up some flounder. Captain Marc and his daughter had six keepers on Deadly Doubles baited with Gulp.
Curt Presnell had his first Ocean City flounder trip today and it also resulted in a limit of some nice fish. Curt wasn’t fishing the ocean bite, but he still found his four keeper flounder on orange Deadly Doubles baited with Gulp.
I got a report in from Caleb Powell that his dad caught a limit of flounder this morning outside the jetty with some nice fish in the mix, and that Caleb and a couple of buddies had their limit there yesterday with sixteen keeper flounder. Both groups used Deadly Doubles baited with Gulp.
Big Bird Cropper and his friend John had a nice day of floundering outside the jetty with seven nice keepers up to 21.75″.
Captain Will of Local Hooker Charters had a family day today that resulted in a limit of flounder.
Steve Tapley caught this beauty of a 40″ rockfish in the OC Inlet last night and safely released it.
Captain Kane Bounds of the Fish Bound has seen some good fishing for tautog over the past several trips.
