Issue Highlights

Daniel Trimper Real Estate on 9th Street and Baltimore Ave. was advertising Captain’s Hill in West Ocean City. It was marketed as, “The gracious new waterfront community boasting Ocean City’s perfect blend of smart summer and year around homes.”

An editorial, headlined “The Vacant 8 Months,” read, “Late last spring the Mayor and Council were practically forced into hiring a much needed publicity man for Ocean City. Now that the resort has a publicity bureau of sorts we’d like to see town officials vote a small winter budget to the bureau expressly for the purpose of promoting the winter attractions of the resort.”

At the Shore Drive-In, “2 shows every night” were being offered starting at dusk with children 12 free.

The Hess Apparel model in its full page ad was Mary Ann Corbett, who was sporting Petti Swimwear.

The Carousel Resort Motel on 110th Street was offering a heated swimming pool, two cocktail lounges, complete kitchens and all oceanfront rooms with television.

Inside the Colonial Hotel on the Boardwalk at 1st Street was the Dixie Bar, “home of the famous Colonial Cooler, ;one to a customer.’”
