OCEAN CITY — A 55-year-old woman struck by a vehicle on Coastal Highway at 118th Street last Thursday afternoon was med-evaced to PRMC in Salisbury with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
Around 3:05 p.m. last Thursday, Ocean City Police officers and Emergency Services responded to the area of 118th Street and Coastal Highway for a reported pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, an unidentified 55-year-old woman, was crossing the highway in a marked crosswalk from west to east at 118th Street when she was struck by a vehicle that was headed east and turning into the northbound lane. The driver of the striking vehicle was at fault, according to the OCPD.
The victim was treated at the by Ocean City EMS and was then flown to PRMC with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. All of the southbound lanes on Coastal Highway near 118th Street were closed for about a full 10 minutes, complicating traffic on the first official day of Bike Week. A short time later, one southbound lane on Coastal Highway was opened and the OCPD and Emergency Services cleared the scene entirely around 3:50 p.m.
