BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team enjoyed a couple of relatively easy wins this week, beating Worcester County rival Snow Hill in its final regular season home game last Friday before trouncing St. Michael’s on the road on Tuesday.
Last Friday, the Seahawks cruised by Snow Hill, 76-37, in its final home game of the season. Tyler Hunter scored a double-double including 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Jesse Engle continued his recent assault on the basket with 17 points to go along with eight assists. P.J. Copes scored 16 points for Decatur, while Collin Macomber pitched in 12 points.
On Tuesday, the Seahawks picked up where they left off, routing an overmatched St. Michael’s team, 83-23 on the road. Engle again led Decatur with 27 points and 11 assists. Copes scored 16 points, while Dimir Andrews picked up a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.
With the pair of wins this week, the Seahawks assured themselves of a winning overall record for the regular season by improving to 11-9 with one game remaining. Decatur also improved their Bayside South record to 7-8 and had a chance to pull even in the conference with a road game against Parkside yesterday played too late to be included in this edition. The state 3A-East regional seedings will be announced on Sunday.
