Vision Survey Input Sought For Parks Master Plan

OCEAN CITY – Your opinion is sought to help improve Ocean City Recreation and Parks (OCRP) by taking a five-minute Vision Survey.

According to Ocean City Recreation and Parks Director Susan Petito, the department has been tasked with the development of a Parks Master Plan.  The process requires identification and evaluation of current park amenities, as well as active and passive recreational opportunities offered to residents and visitors at each site. The results of this evaluation will be compared with the needs and interests of the community, and established national standards.  The collected data will then be used to develop the overall Master Plan proposal.

“We hope to use the results of the Vision Survey to help us identify the community’s needs and interests when it comes to their leisure pursuits, and use this information to help develop a master plan for the future development and redevelopment of our existing park system and recreation program offerings,“ Petito said.  “Ocean City is a unique community made up of a variety of stakeholders including our property owners, residents, and visitors.  The Recreation and Parks Department is a key contributor to the Town’s vision of being a livable community, as well as a first class tourist destination, so our parks and programs must be viable to all of our stakeholders.  We hope the community will embrace this survey so that we are able to appropriately plan for our future.”

Visit the Town of Ocean City’s website at www.oceancitymd.gov, and click on “Recreation and Parks” under “Departments.” The survey link is on the homepage.

According to Petito, Ocean City cares about residents and visitor’s quality of life and would like to give thanks ahead of time for helping OCRP continue providing valued amenities and services in town.

The data collected will be used only in the aggregate and all individual responses will be kept strictly confidential. The survey will be available online through April 29.
