BERLIN — Three days after a strong armed robbery at Wal-Mart, two individuals were arrested and charged in the incident.

On Friday, Nov. 20 at 9:27 p.m., Maryland State Police troopers from the Berlin barrack made contact with a female at the Wal-Mart on Route 50 outside of Berlin. She informed them she was at the Red Box movie rental kiosk in the vestibule area when an unknown man grabbed her purse from her shopping cart and fled to the parking lot. According to police, the victim chased after the man, who reportedly got into the passenger side of a teal hatchback passenger car.  The victim reached into the vehicle from the driver side and grabbed her purse from the suspect.  During the struggle for the purse, the victim was punched in the face by the suspect. The vehicle then fled the scene.

The victim told police a woman was driving the Geo Metro and a broadcast was issued for the vehicle as well as the individuals.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Worcester County Bureau of Investigations (WCBI) announced two arrests had been made in the incident.

The female suspect was identified as Karen J. Landon of Snow Hill and the male suspect as Edward Brad Ward Jr. of Crisfield. WCBI detectives along with the Maryland State Warrant Apprehension Team located and arrested Landon in Worcester County. Landon was held on $9500.00 bond.

Ward was located in Wicomico County and arrested without incident. Ward was held without bond. Both Ward and Landon were charged with robbery and related charges.
