OCEAN CITY- For the second time in three weeks, the local K-Coast Dolphins girls’ youth lacrosse team won the championship in a significant mid-Atlantic tournament with a victory in the title game of the Sun and Surf Tournament in Virginia Beach last weekend.

The K-Coast Dolphins last weekend went undefeated and swept six games at the Sun and Surf Tournament in Virginia Beach featuring some of the top programs in the mid-Atlantic region. The Dolphins competed in the Middle School A Division and won three early round games last Saturday before sweeping three more on Sunday to capture the championship.

On Saturday, the Dolphins beat the Virginia Superstars in the first round, 7-3, followed by wins over Geronimo, 13-3, in the second round and Madskillz Epic, 6-1, in the third round. On Sunday, the Dolphins collected two more wins, including a win over Battle Lax Maroon, 7-3, and Jets White, 8-7, to reach the championship game.

In the championship game, the K-Coast Dolphins faced Jets White again, a team that was one year older than the Dolphins. The K-Coast Dolphins fell behind early, 3-0, but rallied for four straight goals to win the tournament championship, 4-3.

Last week’s championship win at the Sun and Surf Tournament in Virginia Beach came just three weeks after the K-Coast Dolphins won the title at the prestigious Lax Splash Tournament in the Baltimore metro area. At Lax Splash, the Dolphins beat Cobra Midget, 6-5, to claim the title.
