Local Teams Win Titles At Lax Splash

OCEAN CITY- Two local teams made a strong showing at Lax Splash last weekend in Baltimore with each winning the championship in their respective divisions.

Some of the top youth lacrosse programs in the state competed in the prestigious Lax Splash tournament at various locations in Baltimore and once again the Eastern Shore and the local area was well represented. The K-Coast Dolphins, coached by Fred Yesko, won the girls’ 11-12A championship, sweeping four games to win the title.

The K-Coast Dolphins beat Cobra Midget in its first game, 5-0, followed by a 10-3 win over Carroll Manor. In the semifinals, the K-Coast Dolphins beat HFG Baldwin, 11-7. That victory set up an appearance in the championship game on Sunday and the

Dolphins edged Cobra Midget again, 6-5, to claim the title.

The OC Warriors also won the championship in the boys’ 9-10C division. The Warriors swept their first three pool play games with an 11-2 win over Carroll Manor, a 5-0 win over ESP Vipers and an 8-2 win over Perry Hall. The pool play sweep put the Warriors in the championship round. In the quarterfinals, the OC Warriors beat Jarrettsville, 5-4, then beat the ESP Vipers in the semifinals, 6-2. In the championship game, the OC Warriors beat Geronimo, 9-3, the claim the title.
