BERLIN- After a season during which they won their first conference championship in 32 years and reached the state 3A-South region championship before bowing out, the Stephen Decatur girls’ varsity basketball team was well represented at the Bayside South All-Star senior game this week.
Decatur Coach Amy Fenzel-Mergott coached the girls’ Bayside South All-Star team this week against the senior All-Stars from the Bayside North. Four Seahawk seniors were named Bayside South Senior All-Stars including Jillian Petito, Payton VanKirk, Marina Jones and Ally Beck.
Mardela, which battled the Seahawks for the Bayside South title all season and handed Decatur its only regular season loss was also well represented. A total of seven senior players from the two conference front runners made the All-Star team. Representing Mardela were Demyra Selby, Dymond Trader and Dasia Cornish. Also on the Bayside South Senior All-Star team were Kasie Turner and Teaghen Vogelsang of Bennett, T’Daisha Polk of Parkside, Mekel Shockley of Snow Hill and Tyasia Johnson of Wicomico.
