OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s 27th annual St. Patrick’s Soccer Tournament concludes this weekend after thr weeks of play with the men’s and women’s adult divisions taking center stage.

From modest beginnings 27 years ago, the annual St. Patrick’s Tournament has grown by leaps and bounds over the years and is now one of the largest events of its kind in the region. The tournament has been held for three consecutive weekends at the Northside Park athletic complex and concludes this weekend with the men’s and women’s adult divisions.

There will be 35 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams competing all weekend at Northside, culminating with championships on Sunday. Among the men’s teams with local ties competing this weekend are the Evolution BC from Ocean City, Kirby’s Pub from Ocean City, LPI Technical Services from Berlin, the Greene Turtle West from West Ocean City and the Wilmington Underdogs from Fenwick Island. Among the women’s teams with local ties competing this weekend are the Lady Renobs from Salisbury, the Lil’ Nuggets from Berlin and the Salisbury Soccer Club.

Last weekend, the boys’ and girls’ under-12 and under-16 tournaments were held. The Berlin Freedom won the boys’ under-12 championship, beating Fruitland SC Fire, 3-1, in the title game. In the girls’ under-12 division, it was the Fruitland Fury beating PHWM Patriots, 3-2, in the championship game. In the boys’ under-16 division, it was the FSC Hotspur beating Rinnier, 5-1, for the championship, while the Fruitland SC Elite beat Riverward SC, 7-2, for the girls’ under-16 title.

FC Barcelona won the boys’ under-18 championship, while Rommel’s Ace won the girls’ under-18 title. The Fruitland SC Red Bulls won the boys’ under-14 title, while the Thunder won the girls’ under-14 title. The MUFC won the boys’ under-10 title, while the Lady Arsenal SC won the girls’ under-10 championship.
