Decatur Boys Fall to Parkside, 3-0

BERLIN- It was the tale of two halves for the Decatur boys’ varsity soccer team this week against rival Parkside, but the outcome was a 3-0 loss to the Rams.

In a Bayside South showdown on Monday, Parkside took the first act with a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Decatur, meanwhile, barely got a whiff of the Parkside goal in the first half, registering just a single shot during the period.

The Seahawks made adjustments at the break and came out much more aggressive on offense in the second half. Decatur forced the issue in Parkside’s defensive end and got several great looks early in the period, but couldn’t find a way to punch it in.

Parkside scored its third goal in the second half to take a commanding 3-0 lead, but Decatur was clearly the aggressor in the second half. However, they just couldn’t finish when they had great opportunities and fell to the Rams, 3-0.

The loss continued a topsy-turvy week for Decatur. Last Wednesday, the Seahawks fell to Easton, 3-1, but followed that up with a 6-0 shellacking of Washington. With the 3-0 loss to Parkside on Monday, the Seahawks’ record now stands at 4-4 on the season. The Seahawks face Wicomico on Monday, followed by a regular season finale against Kent Island on the road.
