Decatur Harriers Sweep Home Meet

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s cross country teams dominated their own home meet last week with the boys’ and girls’ teams coming out on top among the four schools competing including Snow Hill, Parkside and North Dorchester.

The Decatur girls swept the top six spots and eight of the top 10 on their way to a first-place finish in the home meet. North Dorchester was second, Snow Hill was third and Parkside was fourth. The Seahawk boys placed five runners among the top 10 finishers in their meet to take first place. Parkside was second, North Dorchester was third and Snow Hill was fourth.

On the girls’ side, Jenna Reimer took first place, finishing in 21:56.00, while Rachel Savage was second at 24.22.00 and Peyton Dunham was third at 24:43.00. Meya Chilengi was fourth, Rose Billings was fifth, and Alison Alvarado was sixth. Parkside’s Alison Duck broke up Decatur’s run of top finishers, coming in seventh, but Katie Hoffman finished eighth, and Jordan Klebe was ninth. Other top finishers for the Decatur girls included Elizabeth Masters (11), Maya Knepp (12), Emma Leo (13), Hannah Wilson (14), Justine Graham (17), Emily Cook (22) and Laila Mirza (240.

For the Decatur boys, Jacob Gaddis came in second, finishing in 20:11.00. Jack Reimer was fourth, finishing in 20:52.00, Jared Massey was sixth, Matt Alvarado was seventh and Parker Harrington was eighth. Other top finishers for Decatur were Ethan Janson (13), Cameron James (14), Reed Watson (19), Christian Beres (21), Chris Kotsifakis (23) Ryan Danaher (24), Brennan Holloway (29), Carl Echols (36), Tyler VanSice (37), Caleb Connor (43), Nathan Mitchell (44), Cole Norman (52), and Max Pyles (55).
