Decatur Girls Win Two, Improve to 6-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity swim team continued its winning ways this week, sweeping two meets to improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Last Wednesday, the Seahawks turned in an impressive performance with a 114-55 win over Queen Anne’s to improve to 5-0. Several Decatur swimmers collected first-place finishes including Rachel Bourne in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 28.53. Carly Deickman was first in the 100-free, finishing in 1.03.48, while Hailey Williams was first in the 500-free finishing in 6.01.80.

Deickman was also first in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing in 1.13.04. The Seahawks were also strong in the relays, collecting two first-place finishes. In the 200-meter medley relay, the team of Molly Wooten, Deickman, Williams and Rakow finished first at 2.08.69. Decatur also won the 400-meter freestyle relay with Williams, Deickman, Wooten and Rachel Bourne finishing in 4.21.84.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks followed up the win over Queen Anne’s with a 97-73 win over Indian River to improve to 6-0 on the season. First-place finishes included Rakow in the 100-meter freestyle, Wooten in the 200-meter free, Williams in the 500-meter free and Deickman in the 100-meter breast. Wooten, Deickman, Bourne and Williams also won the 400-meter freestyle relay, finishing in 4.25.61. The Seahawks faced Cambridge-South Dorchester last night in a meet too late to be included in this edition.
