BERLIN- With the annual Ocean City Half Marathon coming up again in April, one local team of runners representing an important safety net for Worcester County is already organizing a kick-off party and registration event for the annual race.
The Ocean City Half Marathon and associated 5K race is set to return on April 30 with hundreds of racing enthusiasts expected to descend on the resort area for a weekend of road racing, fun events and, perhaps most importantly, an opportunity to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Last year, over 800 racers participated in the annual events, including a team from the Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services organization.
WYFCS had its own four-member team compete in the race and inspired dozens of other local racing enthusiasts to join their cause. Team GOWOYO is already planning to build on the success of last year’s event with a Kick-Off Party and registration at the Greene Turtle-West on February 3. Those attending will have the opportunity to join Team GOWOYO and take advantage of discounted registration fees in exchange for collecting pledges for the organization. The event is set for February 3 at the Greene Turtle-West from 6-8 p.m. For more information, call WYFCS at (410) 641-4598.
