AGH Adds Neurologist
BERLIN – Atlantic General Hospital recently announced the addition of neurologist Preeti Yonker, M.D., to the Atlantic General Hospital/Health System Medical Staff. The hospital recruited Yonker to the Atlantic General Health System network of providers as part of its mission to further improve access to specialized care in Worcester County.
Yonker earned her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine before going on to a neurology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. She also completed a clinical fellowship in neurophysiology at Henry Ford.
In addition to her training in general neurology care, including headache and migraine management and treatment of lower back pain, stroke, neuropathy, dementia, multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases, Yonker holds a subspecialty in epilepsy.
Her specialized background will give her patients on the shore access to the best treatment options for epilepsy as well as help them better manage the disease through every stage of life.
New Officers Named
BERLIN – As part of its annual meeting, Atlantic General Hospital Corporation named new officers to the Board of Directors.
Dr. Robert Durkin has been a member of the hospital’s medical staff for 12 years, serving as medical directory of pulmonary and critical care and as the chief of staff from 2004 to 2005. Durkin is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care.
Michael James manages the Carousel Resort Hotel and Condominium in Ocean City. He enjoys the outdoors and the activities it offers, including sports, hunting and fishing.
Kathy Clark works with Monogram Building and Design, where she serves as vice president. She serves on the board of directors for the Bank of Ocean City and is a past treasurer for Habitat for Humanity. She is also a real estate broker.
Board Members Announced
SALISBURY – Three new board members were elected to the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore at the organization’s recent Annual Meeting. Elected to three-year terms on the Foundation Board were Kathleen McLain of Salisbury; Lauren Taylor of Ocean City; and Ernie Satchell of Princess Anne.
McLain is currently the General Manager of WMDT 47 and Delmarva’s CW 3. She has been active in lending support to the local community serving on boards such as Salisbury Urban Ministries, PRMC Health System Advisory Council, Deer’s Head Citizens Advisory Board, Women Supporting Women, Wicomico County Tourism Advisory Board, The Greater Salisbury Committee, Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few.
Taylor is a resident of Somerset and Worcester counties. Her past Board experience includes Peninsula Regional Hospital Foundation, Friends of Coastal Hospice, The United Way and Somerset County Historic Trust. She is a past president of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and was the recipient of the Spirit of Ocean City Award. Taylor currently serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the Ocean City Economic Development Committee, and serves on the Community Foundation’s Excellence in Education Grant Committee.
Satchell is a native of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. He is the head of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and is a charter member of the Somerset County Arts Council.
CRS Designation Earned
OCEAN CITY – Cindy Purcell, Sales Associate with Re/Max Premier Properties in Ocean City, has been awarded the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) Designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
Realtors who receive the CRS Designation have completed advanced courses and have demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Fewer than 38,000 Realtors nationwide have earned the credential.
