29th Annual Cruisin Underway With New Attractions

OCEAN CITY – One of the hottest hot rod shows on the east coast, the 29th Annual Cruisin Ocean City, got underway Thrusday in Ocean City and continues through the weekend.

The nationally recognized event attracts more than 3,300 customs, hot rods, street machines, classics and more from over 20 states plus Canada.

Lots of car shows, along with vendor showcases, will be taking place at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center parking lot and the Inlet parking lot, plus several more car shows will be taking place at various business locations in and around Ocean City.

New this year an additional location will be added to Cruisin at the US 13 Dragway in Delmar. Events will take place Friday and Saturday during Cruisin weekend. Gates will open at 4 p.m. each day. Friday night will feature a No Prep Shootout and Saturday night the King of the Strip Showdown. There will be jet dragsters, car shows, tests and tunes, burnout contests and more. Scheduled to appear at this year’s Cruisin will be Catherine Bach, best known for her role as Daisy Duke from the long running Dukes of Hazzard television show. She will welcoming attendees at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and the Inlet on Saturday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Her appearance coincides with the 40th anniversary year of the famous television show.

Also scheduled to appear will be Ryan Evans from the hit show Counting Cars. Evans will be at the Inlet on Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and inside the Roland E. Powell Convention Center Saturday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Another new event for Cruisin 2019 will be the Cruisin Car Corral on Friday inside the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. To put your car in the corral, call 410-798-6304. Space is limited so call today.

Some of the country’s top national names will be showcasing their products in manufacturers midway at the Inlet parking lot including Advance Auto Parts, Advantage Lifts, AMSOIL, Barrett-Jackson, COMP Performance, Covercraft Car Covers, CVF Racing, Detroit Speed, Flaming River, GEICO, Grundy Insurance, Krietz Auto, McQueen Classics, Miller Welding, Mothers Polish, QA1, Ridetech, Ron Francis Wiring, Summit Racing, Sundance Vacations, TREMEC, Truck’n America and Wissel & Walsh.

At the convention center, there will be Treasured Motor Services, Pinnacle Concrete Coatings, Pioneer Pole Builders and a variety of vendors both inside and outside selling automotive merchandise along with arts & crafts, jewelry, T-shirts and many other specialty items. Additional Cruisin Ocean City highlights are the special Boardwalk parades that will take place Friday and Saturday mornings. Parades will begin at 8 a.m. from 26th Street and cruise south to the Inlet.

Friday night be sure to cruise over to Ocean Downs Casino for the Pin-Up Party. There will be live music from Golden Touch at 7 p.m. and the 5th Annual Pin-Up Contest will take place at 8 p.m. Come dressed in your best pin-up attire or just cheer on your favorite contestant. There will be cash and trophy prizes to the top winners as the 5th Annual Miss Cruisin Pin-Up was crowned.

Saturday night check out the Trimper’s Family Fun Night. Beginning at 8 p.m., Trimper’s will turn on some of their select rides plus from 9-10 p.m. there will be a Neon and LED Light Car show. Spectators can walk down the Boardwalk to South First Street or park in the Inlet parking lot.

On Sunday, the Grand Finale Awards will take place at the Inlet parking lot. Before Cruisin comes to an end, there will be more than 500 trophies, plaques and awards presented plus over 3,000 giveaways.
