No rain, light winds and warm temperatures have got Ocean City busy for the Mother’s Day holiday weekend. Unfortunately rain moves in tonight and tomorrow so I’m sure most folks will be spending the day with Mom instead of fishing. It was a busy day on the bay today where the bluefish were snapping once again and a couple of flounder were caught despite the dirty water.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a great group of guys on board today and he was able to show them some good fishing from the inlet to the route 50 bridge. The crew caught and released shad and some short tautog and boxed some bluefish on the end of the outgoing tide and the beginning of the incoming.
Big Bird Cropper and “Neighbor” Dave had a fun day on the Lost Time today. Bird and Dave used Roy Rigs around the 50 bridge and caught their limit of bluefish and released a bunch more.
Captain Drew Zerbe of the Tortuga out of Bahia Marina had a nice morning on the bay today. Captain Drew put this crew on some snapper bluefish and a 2 pound flounder on squid and minnow combos.
Captain Wayne Blanks of Bayside Guide Service had another good morning with the bluefish putting a pile of snappers and choppers on the deck after fishing the route 5o bridge.
Nick Posterli and George Makres used Gotcha plugs around the 50 bridge to catch a couple of bluefish and also boxed two 17″ keeper flounder in the Thorofare on white Gulp swimming mullet.
Steve Smith submitted this photo of some jumbo black drum that he and his crew caught while fishing out of Cape Charles, VA. The guys fished two days in a row and had a four man limit on both.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported slooooowwww tautog fishing today, but they did see good sign for the opening of sea bass season on May 15. There are some good fish out there so the season should open up gangbusters as long as the weather cooperates.
