We had a very nice day today in and around Ocean City with nice spring temperatures, sunny skies and light breezes.  The wind did pick up out of the south this afternoon, but it’s supposed to turn easterly tomorrow which will make it a little cooler and should help clean the bay up a little.  Even though the water wasn’t the cleanest today it was still a good day of flounder fishing.  I got a report that a 55″ bluefin tuna was caught out of the Talbot Street Pier today which is very good news for offshore anglers that have been waiting for tuna fish to make their 2019 appearance.

I had the pleasure of fishing with my buddy Chad Tulak of East Coast Marine Electronics today for an upcoming episode of Hooked on OC and we had a great time as always……and we caught some fish.  We started behind Assateague Island, but the wind was against the tide so we had 0 drift.  We decided to make a move to the Thorofare which paid off immediately as we put a nice 18″ keeper flounder in the boat caught on a pink Fish in OC Deadly Double rig with a white 5″ Gulp swimming mullet.  We fished for an hour or so there catching two more keepers and when the tide switched we headed back behind Assateague where we caught some snapper blues to 3 or 4 pounds and two more throwbacks.  It was a great day on the drink with Chad that ended with about 10 throwback flounder and three keepers.  We caught fish on both chartreuse and pink Deadly Double rigs, but pink was the hot color for the keepers.  Thanks to Dave Messick of Hooked on OC for the shots!

Captain Brian Behe of Buffalo Hunter Guide Service had a trip in Wachapreague, VA today that was more than productive.  Captain Brian had Jerry, Ronnie and Squeeky from Georgetown, DE on board today and they used white Gulp to catch about 25 throwback flounder and seven nice keepers up to 24″ for the box.

Captain Brian had “The Teachers” on the boat yesterday and Todd Martinek got a chance to gloat a little while Tommy Hinkle looked on with disgust.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters has been all over the bluefish in the inlet lately and today was no different when he put his anglers on their limit of snappers.

Jesse Ellis used his new Fish in OC JPR rod to land some nice 3-5 pound bluefish while fishing the Thorofare.

Nick Posterli and George Makres fished this weekend and had some success in the Thorofare.  The duo threw back four short flounder and boxed a 17″ keeper and some snapper bluefish.

Over the weekend Chef Paul Suplee of Boxcar 40 in Pittsville, MD had a terrific trip in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with Dawn Ebelein.  Dawn was 3 for 3 and Paul was 2 for 2 on some nice gaffer mahi.

Things down at the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City are heating up all the time.  Bear reports that Arian and his wife Christy had some keeper tog from the pier of 16″ and 21″ off of the pier’s lively sand fleas.  Bob Haltmeier reports that the bluefish bite is still very good and he also saw some keeper tautog.
