I’ll be completely honest from the get-go and say that I did not expect to be putting up a fishing report tonight.  Today’s forecast was for winds of 25-35 with gusts over 40 and that’s exactly what it turned out to be.  I was over in Annapolis at a Sport Fish Advisory Commission meeting and had to deal with wind restrictions on the Bay Bridge that had the speed limit at 40….and other drivers weren’t even doing that.  There was confirmation of a tornado touch down in Laurel, DE overnight so there was some volatile weather in the area for sure….which brings me to the report.

I was more than surprised when I got a text from my buddy Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing saying that he and his wife Karen had gone fishing today, and I was more surprised that they actually caught something.  Captain Jeff reported that they “drifted” behind Assateague Island for flounder to no avail and then tried the route 50 bridge where they miraculously caught and released this short striper.  Captain Jeff also reported a 42 MPH wind gust out there and that they “got their asses kicked” heading home through the Thorofare.  I’ve got to give him and Karen props for even trying it today and super props for catching a fish….I’d have rather been in my meeting in Annapolis.
