Mallards’ Streak Halted By Parkside

BERLIN – Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team fell to Parkside in a high-scoring game on Monday, 18-14, to drop to 3-3 on the season.

The Mallards opened the season with two straight losses to Decatur and Cape Henlopen before a run of three straight wins last week. Last Wednesday, the Worcester girls rolled past Salisbury School, 20-3, at home. The Mallards led 10-2 at the half and scored 10 more goals in the second half on their way to the 20-3 rout.

On Saturday, the Worcester girls faced a tough Northern team from Calvert County at home and won, 18-11. The Mallards opened up an 11-6 lead by halftime. Northern played Worcester tighter in the second half, but the lead was insurmountable and the Worcester girls cruised to the 18-11 win to improve to 3-2.

On Monday, the Mallards hit the road for a game against Bayside South power Parkside and fell to the Rams, 18-14. Parkside led 10-6 at the half. The two teams played to an 8-8 tie in the second half, but the Mallards could not overcome the early Parkside lead and fell 18-14 to drop to 3-3. The Worcester girls renew their rivalry with Saints Peter and Paul at home on Friday.
