Today started off a little foggy and chilly, but by this afternoon it was absolutely beautiful.  There was no wind to speak of so once the fog burned off it was reely nice with sunny skies and temps reaching into the 60s in most places.  It was a great day to get out and work on the boat, play a quick nine holes of golf or best yet….get out on the water for some fishing that is starting to get going.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was on the rip today and though the morning didn’t start off perfectly, he did put his clients on some meat.

Hi Scott ,
Dagoned foggy/swelly/windy morning.  Would have been perfect for some good old Boston mackerel fishing. Haven’t had them in 25 years or more now though. Went Toggin!
They bit too. No a ferocious bite, but OK while current was running.
Jay from Fairfax had a limit and tied w/Ray with 20.5 in tog to split the pool money. Also pictured are Bobby West of Willards MD – Will Morrison of Millville NJ – plus Peter, Corey and John Franzea of  CT
Dinner!

Captain Brian Behe of Buffalo Hunter Guide Service starts his Wachapreague, VA charter season tomorrow so today it was a scouting mission with his Dad John.  Captain Brian reported that it wasn’t red hot by any means, but they did scratch out some nice keepers.  Captain Brian used Deadly Doubles with a combination of live minnows and Gulp to land three keeper flounder up to 21″.

The Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City is back open with limited hours and you can count on the doors being open on a nice Saturday like today.  It’s just in time too as Bob Haltmeier reported a terrific bite with small stripers.  You’re probably not going to catch any keepers at 28″, but you can have a great time catching and releasing.  Bob caught and released 20 short stripers himself.

Bob also sent me this photo of Lucy who fished the 2nd street bulkhead and landed this keeper tautog….they’re here too!
