The Elusive Snakehead

We had a big change in the weather in and around Ocean City today as the rain moved in and brought some cooler temperatures and wind with it.  I would be surprised if anyone was out on the water today, but the weekend looks pretty good and since the first flounder have been caught in Ocean City and Virginia I’m hoping to get some reports.

Last night as I was writing up the Daily Angle Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters and another guest out for some bowfishing and they were able to find some nice fish.  Captain Marc and crew put arrows in eight American snakeheads last night that made for some tasty eats.  Snakeheads are an invasive species in MD so the MD DNR actually encourages their capture and harvest.  Captain Marc sent me a couple of photos of the filet and cooked snakehead and I must say it looks quite good.  He swears it is and I look forward to trying it in the near future.

Tom and Magen Buterbaugh had a chance to get their new skiff on the water this week and do some fishing in Ocean City’s back bays where Magen caught and released this nice striper.
