Seahawks Blank Wicomico, Improve To 2-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestling team improved to 2-0 in the season last week with an 84-0 win over Wicomico and have yet to yield a single point thus far early in the season.

The Seahawks won their all five matches in the lightest weight classes with forfeit victories by Caleb Myers at 106, Shamar Barnes at 113, Anya Knappenberger at 120, Jagger Clapsadle at 126 and Noah Reho at 132. Kyle Elliot beat Wicomico’s James Waters at 138 and Alex Koulikov beat Cade Stone at 145.

After another forfeit win by Jhymir Blake at 152, Decatur’s Cole Bennett beat Wicomico’s Markise Wilson at 160. Ethan Kalchthaler won by forfeit at 170 and Lukas Layton won by forfeit at 182. D.J. Taylor beat Lamar Croswell at 195, while Micah Bourne won by forfeit at 220. Decatur’s Dakota Souder beat Wicomico’s Moses Ansari at 285.

The win was the second in two matches for the Seahawks, both by shutout. The competition ramps up for the Seahawks next week, however. Decatur travels to La Plata in southern Maryland this weekend to compete in the prestigious Warrior Duals.
