OCEAN PINES- The 26th Annual Santa’s Open charity golf tournament last week at Ocean Pines was once again a huge success with thousands of dollars raised and gifts collected for children facing adversity through the Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore program.

Over 90 golfers competed in the tournament and numerous areas businesses participated in the annual Santa’s Open charity golf tournament including sponsors the Delmarva Shorebirds, PNC Wealth Management, Delmarva Power, Mid-Atlantic Heating and Air, Comcast Spotlight and Tyson Foods.

For the record, the team including Jeff Young, Chris Beebe, Tim Velasco and Dean Geracimos won first-place low gross, while the team of Randy Hockenbrock, Marl Cornelius, John Phillips and John Kilgeur won first-place low net. However, the big winner was the Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore organization. The tournament raised over $16,000 for the organization and scores of holiday gifts were collected for children of need in the community.

“It is always so encouraging to see the generosity of the people who participate in Santa’s Open,” said Big Brothers-Big Sisters Executive Director Jessica Mimms. “It is this generosity that allows us to provide resources and services to local children.”
