Worcester Boys Drop Two In Tip-Off Classic

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team dropped a pair of games to start the 2018-2019 season last weekend, falling to Indian River and Laurel in the Tip-Off Classic.

The Mallards traveled to Indian River to compete in the season-opening Tip-Off Classic last weekend and fell to the host in the opener on Friday, 54-36. Michael Curtis led the Mallards with 10 points, while Colin Miller added nine points and Mason Brown added eight. Henry Taboh scored five points in the loss, while Cole Berry and Cooper Richins each got in the scorebook with two points.

In Worcester’s second game of the tournament on Saturday, the Mallards fell to Laurel, 73-69, in a much closer, higher scoring game. The Mallard face Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Saints Peter and Paul on the road on Friday, followed by a home game against Gunston next Tuesday.
