Worcester Boys Blank Holly Grove, 8-0

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team beat Holly Grove on Monday on the road for the second time in the last three games.

Last week, the Mallards beat Holly Grove, 8-0, at home. Worcester led 4-0 at the half on goals from Dakin Moore, Aiden Mullins, Vincent Petrera and Ryan Cronin. In the second half, the Mallards picked up right where they left off at the intermission, scoring four more goals to pull away for the 8-0 win. Worcester got second half goals from Moore, Petrera, Alec Burbage and Ben Brandt. Cronin also had three assists in the game and Cooper Richins was outstanding in the net with 11 saves.

Last Friday, the Worcester boys faced Sussex Tech at home and played to a 3-3 tie. The Mallards led 2-1 at the half after first-half goals by Will Todd and Graham Hammond. However, Sussex Tech scored two times in the second half while Worcester added another goal and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Aiden Hammond scored the second-half goal for the Mallards.

Worcester’s record now stands at 7-2-2 on the season. The Mallards will play their final regular season home game on Friday against Delmarva Christian and will close out with two on the road next week at Gunston and Salisbury Christian.
