Annual Chamber Award Winners Announced

OCEAN CITY — The Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce has announced its annual award winners for 2017.

These recipients represent the best in the area, according to a chamber press release. Submissions were made in each category through July 1 followed by a review by the selection committee made up of two current chamber board members, two past chamber presidents and two special events Committee members.

The chamber thanks everyone who sent in a submission and reported, “as always it was a very difficult decision with so many deserving individuals.”

Receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Comcast Spotlight, will be Jack Burbage of Blue Water Development Corp.

The 2017 Business Person of the Year is Cole Taustin of the Embers Restaraurant and BLU Crab house. The award is sponsored by D3Corp.

Stephanie Meehan, who owns the Funcade on the Boardwalk, has been named the 2017 Citizen of the Year. The award is sponsored by Atlantic General Hospital.

The honoree as this year Young Professional of the Year, sponsored by Flag Publications and Ocean City Today/Bayside Gazette, will be Jason D’Amore of United Work & Travel.

Earning recognition as this year’s Non-Profit of the Year is Worcester Youth and Family Counseling. The award is sponsored by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, LLC.

This year’s Volunteer of the Year award, sponsored by Peninsula Regional Medical Center, is Terri Mahoney of 47 ABC/WMDT.

The chamber invites the community to help celebrate these individuals on Sept. 12 at the Clarion Fontainebleau for the Annual Chamber Awards Celebration to pay homage to the deserving recipients.                                  The evening will begin with an introduction of the chamber’s 2017-2018 Board of Officers.

Tickets are $85 per person and include two complimentary cocktail hour beverages,                                 Hors d’oeuvres, wine service at table, braised short ribs and stuffed shrimp, roasted seasonal vegetables, potatoes and a delectable variety of Smith Island Cakes for dessert.

Sponsor tables are available for $1,000 (table of 10) and include all of the above plus signage on table, recognition in program and on sponsor display.
