Saltwater Lacrosse 2023 Summer Celebration Champions

BERLIN- The local Saltwater Lacrosse Club stayed on a major roll last weekend in the summer-long travel tournament season, collecting another division championship and sending three more teams to title games in an event in Virginia.

The Saltwater Lacrosse Club features young players from Worcester, Wicomico and Sussex Counties. Two weeks ago, the Saltwater Lacrosse Club won two team championships in the Aloha Beach Lacrosse Tournament held at different venues all over northern Worcester County. Coach Ron Strickler’s under-9 team went undefeated and won the championship in their division, while Coach Tom Pickard’s 2023 team also ran the table and won the championship in its division.

Last weekend, Saltwater Lacrosse sent seven teams to the Colonial Lacrosse Summer Celebration tournament in Williamsburg, Va. and brought home similar results. Four of the club’s seven teams reached the championship game in their respective divisions.

Pickard’s 2023 team again went undefeated and claimed its second tournament championship in as many weeks. Coach Dennis Leonard’s 2022 team, Coach Chris Hoen’s 2024 team and Coach Matt Piperno’s 2025 team all reached the title games in their respective divisions and came home with runner-up honors.
