BERLIN- Most Blessed Sacrament sixth-grader Griffin Jones has been named as a 2017 National Lacrosse All-Star and had been selected to represent the state of Maryland at the National Lacrosse Academy and the National Lacrosse Classic in Richmond in July.
Jones was also selected to represent Maryland at the National Lacrosse Classic last year. The National Lacrosse Academy brings the top youth lacrosse players in the U.S. and Canada to one venue where regional teams representing different states and coached by NCAA lacrosse coaches compete to become the 2017 national champions.
The National Lacrosse Academy is the first-of-its-kind lacrosse experience created to provide a curriculum focused on how a young lacrosse athlete should develop in order to compete at a top high school and collegiate lacrosse program. The National Lacrosse Academy and the National Lacrosse Classic will be held in Richmond on July 18-21.
Jones is not just a one-sport athlete and excels in other sports throughout the year. He also plays middle school basketball and Pop Warner football. During the 2016 football season, Jones was selected as a Regional Scholastic All-Star and Second-Team National Academic All-American. Jones played for the Beach Lacrosse youth program for six years and is currently playing for the Annapolis Hawks AA 2023 team.
