Fenwick Island Incumbents Re-Elected

FENWICK ISLAND – The Town of Fenwick Island will not have an election this year, as the four outgoing members of council were the only ones to meet the application deadline for reelection.

In a special meeting of the Fenwick Island Town Council Wednesday, Audrey Serio, inspector for the town’s Board of Elections, announced that Mayor Gene Langan, Councilwoman Julie Lee, and Councilmen Richard Mais and Roy Williams were the only applicants for this year’s election.

The application deadline for the election process was Wednesday afternoon, and members of the Board of Elections confirmed that the four returning officials still owned property in Fenwick Island.

“It has been deemed that we will not have an election,” Serio said.

The council voted 6-0, with Councilman Bernie Merritt absent, to accept the recommendation.

Langan, Lee, Mais and Williams will retain their positions on the council for another two years.
