Wanda C. Conley

BERLIN — Wanda C. Conley, age 77, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at her home in Berlin.

Wanda C. Conley

Born in Roxanna, Del., she was the daughter of the late Eli Collins Sr. and Agnes McCabe Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Ted” Conley in 2005. She is survived by her children, Susan Wellman and her husband Wade of Berlin and Earl Edward Conley II and his wife Sarah of Bishopville. There are five grandchildren, Brittany and Brooke Wellman and Addison, Ashton and Abigayle Conley. She is also survived by her brothers, John Collins and his wife Grace, Leroy Collins, Lewis Collins and Donald Collins and his wife Janice. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eli Collins, Jr.

Mrs. Conley had been a licensed registered nurse for over 50 years. She had worked at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury Nursing Home and Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Berlin, was currently on the church Vestry and had served on the Altar Guild. She loved playing cards with her girlfriends, especially “Hand and Foot” and she loved gardening.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Berlin. Rev. Michael Moyer officiated. Interment followed in St. Paul’s Episcopal Churchyard. John Clifford Dennis Sr.

BERLIN — John Clifford Dennis Sr., age 78, died Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home in Berlin.

Born in Willards, he was the son of Laurence Dennis and Bernice Austin Dennis. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Laurence Dennis and Vaughn Dennis, and his sisters, Betty Jean White and Doris Ann Quillen.

He is survived by his son, John Clifford Dennis Jr and his former wife Ann Dennis, a daughter, Darlene R. Bouaphakeo and two brothers, Lester Dennis and wife Joan and Gordon Dennis “Buck” and wife Lorie. There are six grandchildren, Bonnie, Kevin, Heather, Stephanie, Brandon, and Eric. There are five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kylie, Caleb, Elizabeth and Jacob, and also his beloved dog, Dixie.

John C. Dennis is a born and raised local of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He proudly and honorably served in the Navy. He was a farmer, a full-time worker who retired from Perdue and formally employed at NCR (National Cash Register) and Chris Craft. He was always working two jobs and he earned everything through hard work and honesty. He was a man who appreciated a dollar and lived simply without waste.

John C. Dennis enjoyed spending time rabbit hunting, fishing, deer hunting, coon hunting and loved playing chess, checkers and cards. Poker was his favorite and he enjoyed winning. If you won, you deserved it and earned it. He would show you your mistake and give you a chance to correct yourself. John C. Dennis was straight forward. He didn’t want any handouts and would trade you what you had for what he had. He was a smart investor and had a business mind.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Burbage Funeral Home. Interment followed at Dennis Truitt Cemetery in Willards. Arrangements are in the care of Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Letters of condolence may be sent to family at [email protected].

Marianna Duvall Klopfer

OCEAN PINES — Marianna Duvall Klopfer passed away on May 11, 2017.

Marianna Klopfer

She was a Montgomery County native born July 18, 1934 in her parent’s home in Fairland, Md. She attended Fairland Elementary School, Silver Spring Intermediate and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in the class of 1952. She married Edwin J. Klopfer on June 20, 1952 in her parent’s home, two days after her high school graduation.

Marianna is the mother of four children, Edwin Klopfer, Jr., Robert Klopfer, Jean Pool and William Klopfer. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Prince George’s County school system for many years. After raising her four children and residing in Lanham, Md. for 37 years, she and Ed retired to Ocean Pines in 1995.

Marianna’s goal in life was to be a loving wife and mother and she succeeded beautifully. She was not particularly athletic, but she did enjoy bowling. She loved gardening, crocheting, boating and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She and Ed enjoyed traveling, including a cross country trip, trips to Ireland and England and a few cruises.

She is survived by her husband, her four children, 14 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and one grandchild.

Services were held at Spencerville Free Methodist Church in Spencerville, Md. with interment following at Union Cemetery in Burtonsville, Md.
