McDonough, Ferro Gain Top Bayside Honors

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity baseball team was well-represented when the Bayside South post-season awards were announced this week including a Player of the Year award for junior standout Tristan McDonough and the Coach of the Year award for Coach Rich Ferro.

The Seahawks went 11-7 in the regular season and won a three-horse race for the Bayside South title along with Parkside and Bennett to claim. Decatur fell to St. Michael’s in the Bayside Conference championship game and beat Easton in the opening round of the 3A-2A East region tournament before falling to Kent Island in the second round.

When the Bayside South awards were announced this week, Decatur was well-represented with University of Miami-bound McDonough earning Player of the Year honors and Ferro earning Coach of the Year honors. Joining McDonough on the All-Bayside South First Team was senior Jake Shockley. Stephen Bontempo was named All-Bayside South Second Team, while Wyatt Church was named All-Bayside South honorable mention. Shockley and Church will also represent Decatur on the Senior All-Star Team.
