Seahawks Sweep Two, Close In On Title

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team swept a pair of games in impressive fashion this week, beating Cambridge-South Dorchester, 17-3, and routing Wicomico, 20-1, to improve to 7-3 and close in on the Bayside South title.

After falling to Cape Henlopen in a tight one, 11-9, back on April 10, the Decatur girls have now won three of their last four including wins over neighborhood rival Worcester Prep, along with the 17-3 over Cambridge-South Dorchester and the 20-1 over Wicomico this week. Wedged in the middle of the late season run was a 12-6 loss to Kent Island back on April 21.

Decatur’s record is now 7-3 overall and the Seahawks have essentially clinched the Bayside South title. The Seahawks will likely face familiar rival Queen Anne’s in the Bayside Conference championship next Monday. The Seahawks have been Queen Anne’s the last two year in a row in the conference championship, but the Lions got the better of Decatur in their regular season meeting this year 14-5 back on March 29.
