Seahawks Solid In Bayside Championships

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity indoor track teams turned in solid performances at the Bayside Conference championships at the Worcester County Athletic Complex last week with several athletes finishing near the top in their various events.

On the girls’ side, Alyssa Romano finished 10th in the 300. Claire Billings was third in the 500, while Alyssa Romano finished ninth. Adrianna Serpe was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles, while Kate Carpenter was ninth. In the relays, the Decatur girls finished fifth in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×400 and fifth in the 4×800. In the field events, Christina Romano was second in the high jump, while Bethany Williams was third. Jillian Mitrecic finished third in the pole vault.

On the boys’ side, Kevin Beck was fifth in the 1,600, while Cameron James finished eighth. In the 3,200, Jack Reimer was eighth while Javier Hernandez finished ninth. Avonte Purnell finished fourth in the 55-meter dash, while James finished seventh in the 800. In the relays, the Decatur boys finished fourth in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×800. In the field events, Wyatt Davy finished second in the high jump and also finished seventh in the pole vault. Patrick Miller finished sixth for Decatur in the shot put.
