The Rusty Pipes Perform For Worcester Prep School

Students AStudents BThe Rusty Pipes, a co-ed a cappella group from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), based in Troy, N.Y., performed for Worcester Preparatory School’s (WPS) Middle and Upper School on Jan. 12. What makes the visit even more meaningful is that one of the lead singers, Ariella Anthony of Seaford, Del. is a 2014 alum who sang in front of her younger siblings, WPS senior Sambina and tenth grader Dominic. The a cappella group then joined Upper School Music Director Christopher Buzby’s Chorus and Ensemble groups for a question-and-answer session on musicality and how to balance the rigors of a cappella practice and travel with a demanding college schedule. Left, the group is pictured with WPS Chorus and Ensemble members.

Ariella Anthony is now a junior at RPI majoring in pre-med biology with hopes to become a doctor like her parents. Her sister, Sambina, who is a standout WPS senior, will attend the college of her choice in the fall as a pre-med student. Younger brother, Dominic, is following in his sisters’ footsteps while maintaining excellent grades and shining in the performing arts. The siblings are pictured with the a cappella group right.
