Hundreds Compete In Seaside 10 Races

OCEAN CITY- With near picture-perfect weather, the annual Seaside 10 and associated 5K races were once again a huge success with hundreds of runners descending on the resort as a culmination of sorts for Ocean City’s ongoing special events during the month of October.

Hundreds of running enthusiasts gathered at the Inlet for the annual 10-mile and 5K races hosted by OC Tri-Running last Saturday. Because of the event’s proximity to Halloween and the other holiday-related special events going on in the downtown area, many of the runners were decked out in elaborate costumes as they made their way around the respective courses.

A total of 246 runners participated in the Seaside 10 race. Among the local runners finishing in the top 50 in the 10-mile race were Jeff Smith, Berlin, 8th; Nate Gregory, Bishopville, 9th; Caroline Haden, Berlin, 16th; Kevin Sullivan, Ocean City, 18th; Karl Walinskis, Berlin, 31st; Kacey Mihoces, Ocean City, 33rd; Bob Long, Ocean City, 41st; Rebecca Sirman, Ocean City, 42nd; David Pouchan, Ocean City, 43rd; and James Weismiller, Ocean City, 50th.

A total of 241 runners competed in the 5K race. Among the locals finishing in the top 50 were James Parana, Berlin, 4th; Jack Walinskas, Berlin, 6th; Lauren Shockley, Berlin, 35th, Sara Hancock, Ocean City, 43rd; Ivan Zorn, Berlin, 46th; and Katherine Brisson, Berlin, 47th.
